Amen, Amen

To quote Paula, "amen, amen". This is what my face looked like when David Cook was announced the winner of American Idol 7 last night.

Could it have happened to a nicer guy? Despite Simon's prediction the night before, the voters saw fit to declare David Cook the winner. To be honest I was a David A. supporter at the beginning of the season. But as the season went on my interest in David A started to wane and I slowly became a David Cook fan. David A is very good but he seemed lost out of his comfort zone of ballads. David C on the other hand seemed to handle all the genres thrown at him with ease. He seemed to get better and better each week. He took chances and sang songs that meant something to him, not songs to garner votes. His final song Tuesday night had been chosen with his brother in mind, not what he thought the judges wanted to hear. I think both Davids will have a career in music to look forward to in the coming years. I am just glad it was David C that won it last night.

In case you missed it, here is MTV's 60 second wrap up of the results show.

Now on to the show itself. I thought it was very entertaining. Well, except for the comedy skits. Does anyone find those funny? The biggest surprise of all was the band who performed with David Cook. Hold on to your hats you non-idol fans. It was ZZ Top. Here is David Cook and ZZ Top performing "Sharp Dressed Man".

And because I can't see it enough, here is the final nine minutes of the show. Simon's apology, the winner being announced, and David Cook singing "Time of My Life". Could David A been any more gracious in losing and David C any more gracious in winning? I, for one, can't wait to hear the music he will be recording this coming year.

"Amen, Amen." The gospel according to Paula. May it ever be so.
